ABOUT US

We live in the Panhandle of Nebraska and enjoy the beauty of the prairie. My sister gave me our first Basset Hound, Maggie, in 1990. We have owned a variety of dog breeds over the years and have returned to owning Basset Hounds. 

 

Hounds on the Prairie are AKC Basset Hounds. Our breeding dogs have been tested and cleared for all Basset Hound genetic disorders. We are members of a local All Breed AKC Club and the Basset Hound Club of America. Our dogs are a large part of our family and live in our home, not in an out-building. They have our constant love and care. I have traveled across the United States to find our dogs. Our focus is to maintain the AKC Standard of Excellence and our pups strive to meet the AKC Guidelines for Conformation. Our puppies are bred for good temperament, health and conformation. All of our puppies will have a series of dewormings, first puppy shots, chipped and a physical by our veterinarian. With your puppy, you will receive a health and shot record, a health guarantee, a sample of puppy food we have raised them on, recipes for dog treats, a towel with kennel smell to comfort them and other items for the continued care of the puppy.
